BROWSE CATDV SUPPORT MANUALS

A new feature in CatDV Web Client 6.9 is simple sequence editing. Please note that the web-based sequence editing does not implement the full source/record-style interface that the desktop CatDV client does, but instead uses  a simplified interface based on a shot list and preview window.

WebClient-14-SequenceEditor

When a sequence is selected in the main clip list an addition “Shot List” tab appears in the clip details panel. This displays the following information:

  • Name – name of the original clip
  • Seq In – start of this shot in the time-line of the sequence
  • Seq Out – end of this shot in the time-line of the sequence
  • Clip In – the start position, in the time-line of the original clip,  of the section of the clip used for this shot .
  • Clip Out – the end position, in the time-line of the original clip,  of the section of the clip used for this shot .
  • Duration – the duration of the shot

Clicking on one of the shots in the list will load the original clip referenced by the shot into the video player, with the Mark-In and Mark-Out points set to the start and end of the shot. In the left hand column, there is a Play Shot button that will load and then play the shot in the original clip.

At the bottom of the shot list panel are a set of buttons:

  • Up – Move the selected shot up in the list i.e. make it appear earlier in the sequence.
  • Down – Move the selected shot down in the list i.e. make it appear later in the sequence.
  • Add – add a new shot. This adds the selected region of the currently selected clip in the main clip list to the shot list.
  • Remove – removes the currently selected shot from the sequence
  • Preview – plays the whole sequence. This is implemented by playing each shot in turn and you may notice a delay while switching from one shot the next.

You must click on the Save button (tick icon in the tool-bar) to save your edits.

 Creating New Sequences

You can create a new sequence by marking in/out points on the clips you wish to construct a sequence out of, and then selecting all the clips in the main clip list and clicking the Create Sequence button in the toolbar. This will construct a sequence from all the selected clip selections.
